Waterproof Fabric

Waterproof performance is not determined by appearance or fabric thickness alone. Base fabric, coating construction, intended application, and exposure conditions all influence how a material performs when facing water and outdoor environments.
Waterproof fabrics may use different coating configurations. Depending on the approved product range, options can include single, double, or multiple coating constructions. More coating does not automatically mean a better fabric; the right construction is the one that meets the actual requirement of the finished product.
A waterproof material does not automatically guarantee a waterproof finished product. Seams, stitching, openings, zippers, sealing methods, and overall construction can influence where water enters. Material selection should therefore be considered as part of the complete product system.
