Advantages of Molded Plastic Zippers
Molded teeth make this zipper bold, light, rust-free and slow to jam. A good fit for outdoor jackets and bags.

A molded plastic zipper has individual teeth molded directly onto the zipper tape. Unlike a coil zipper, whose teeth are a spiral of nylon filament, it has a bold, pronounced look.
Light despite its size#
The teeth are made of acetal resin, so the zipper is much lighter than a metal one with the same tooth size. That mix of light weight and strength suits outdoor clothing.
Resists corrosion and dirt#
- It does not rust, even with repeated exposure to water, including salt water
- The wider spacing between teeth makes it less likely to jam on dust or sand
Common uses#
You often see it as the front zipper on mountain jackets, parkas, water sportswear and casual backpacks. Colors, sizes and slider configuration, including two-way sliders, can be matched to the product design.
