What an Invisible Zipper Does
An invisible zipper hides its teeth behind the tape, so the seam looks clean. A good fit for formal garments.

In formal garments, a clean seam line matters. A regular zipper with exposed teeth often spoils the look.
How it works#
On an invisible zipper, the teeth face inward and are covered by the zipper's own tape. Installed with the right sewing technique, it looks like an ordinary seam from the outside.
Where it is used#
It is common on evening gowns, formal skirts, modern kebaya and wedding dresses. Designers can cut close-fitting garments without breaking the fabric pattern at the back or side.
Its limits#
Though it looks slight, the zipper is made from nylon coil that is strong enough for normal pulling. It is not meant for heavy garments or bags under load, because its purpose is a neat appearance.
