Nylon vs Polyester Webbing
Both are strong, but they behave differently under shock loads, water and sunlight.

Start with how the product is used#
Nylon and polyester are both common choices for webbing. The right one depends on the load, the environment, and how much the strap is allowed to stretch.
Nylon: absorbs shock#
Nylon is more elastic, so a strap can absorb sudden loads. That helps when force arrives all at once. The trade-off is that nylon takes up more water and can weaken slightly when wet.
Polyester: stable outdoors#
Polyester stretches less and generally resists UV better. That makes it a common choice for tie-downs and equipment that spends a long time in the sun.
How to decide#
- Choose nylon when the strap needs to absorb sudden force.
- Choose polyester when the strap must hold its length or is often exposed to weather.
- Test a sample in real use conditions before bulk production.
